My name is Johnathan Cranford, author of The Sugar Demons: an addict’s guide to conquering sugar addiction. I’ve got a quick tip to help you fight those cravings, so you don’t become a victim of the sugar demons.
Step one: Track your cravings, they’re not as random as you think they are. For me it was always right after getting home from work and again right before bedtime.
Step two: Now that you have an idea of when the cravings are coming, you can build a plan around those times to get you through it. This of course includes having healthy replacement foods at hand.
Step three: Control your food environment. Your food environment is the landscape of food options within a reasonable distance of where you are at any given time. If you’re stressed and the fast food is easier to get to than the healthy food, you’re probably going to make an irrational food choice. Instead, control your food environment by keeping the healthier food with you so it’s actually more work to go out and get the unhealthy stuff.
